It is a stuffed bread or pasrty with meat, vegetables or sweet filling. It is not uncommon for Juan & Maria's to serve 1000 empanadas in the course of a day. And by the way, they offer 10 different varieties of Empanadas. All made individually by hand using a unique blend of spices from several of the 20 Spanish speaking countries.
